Cleaning your home could be hurting your family

This is the time of the year for Spring Cleaning! Time to bring out the lemony pine scented household cleaners that our mothers and grandmothers have used for years! Leaving the house with a scent that we all associate with being clean. Well, the concern with these cleaners iare that many of them contain chemicals that are more dangerous than the germs you are striving to clean from your home.

Many common household cleaning products contain: alcohol, ammonia, bleach, formaldehyde, and lye (just to name a few). These substances can cause nausea, vomiting, inflammation and burning of the eyes, nose, throat and respiratory system. Some of the chemicals in our everyday household cleaners have also been linked to neurological, liver and kidney damage, blindness, asthma and cancer.

There are many common household items that can be used to make cleaners that eliminate the potential threat to your family's health and can save you money as well!

The recipe below work great for polishing wood surfaces:

Furniture Polish Recipe

Mix together 1/2 a cup of olive oil and a 1/4 of a cup of lemon juice. ( you can add a few drops of lavender oil and/or vanilla fragrance... smells so good). Rub a small amount into your wood surface and then wipe clean with a soft dry towel!

Peace and Blessings!
